Meet Our Team

Cathy O'Connell

Co-Founder / Managing Partner

I love helping people laugh, cry, and find the heart in special moments. Weddings are all about love and joy, and I feel honored to help couples celebrate that love. Through my work as the co-founder, I guide couples and help them find unique and creative ways to celebrate their connection.  I can’t think of a better way to help make the world a better place. 

My successful career in Silicon Valley – designing fabulous interiors, producing huge projects, negotiating multi-million dollar deals, managing a large staff, facilitating personal growth workshops – taught me critical skills required for exceptional wedding planning. Using Palm Springs as our base has given me opportunities to design events that are not boxed in a traditional framework, and are a true reflection of the couple celebrating love.

Dorry Wynham

Co-Founder / Partner / Artist in Residence

I love bringing out the best in people, helping them to live their fullest life in work and play, and especially in their marriage. I’ve been blessed with an art career that has taken me around the world. Over my lifetime, I’ve lived in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Europe, and India creating and teaching sculpture, painting, and textile design. I also joyfully guided people through the creation and expression of their greatest potential through personal growth & life coaching.

My greatest joy is helping people discover and express what’s really important to them, and celebrate those special elements with those they love. Through my past as a coach and guide, and present as a visionary behind COJ Events, my biggest accomplishment is the hundreds of people whose lives I’ve impacted and guided to become the best they can be.

Angela Crawford

Partner / Operations Director

I love being part of fun and creative events, and gently guiding a couple through the steps leading up to their special day. Hospitality is in my blood - from managing the facets of catering and sales, to helping couples on the day of, I find the most fulfillment in helping honor the love and joy in a wedding celebration. 

I’m a Los Angeles transplant with roots in Indonesia. I grew up in the city, but followed true love and family to Palm Springs. I love managing the details, holding hands and laughing out loud during each moment of a special day.

Nicole Benvenutti

Director of Sales & Marketing

Originally from Houston, TX I have a BA in music and theater performance from Rhodes College and a MS in Hospitality Management from The University of Houston.  I am also a graduate of the Gaeity School of Acting - The National Theater School of Ireland and am certified in armed and unarmed stage combat!  
After a successful singing career in the United States and Europe I began my quest into luxury with De Beers Diamond Jewelers and found my love for event planning by doing the store events.  It was perfect - I was able to be creative, put on a show/staged production and make a difference to people. After launching a wedding planning business in Houston, I packed my bags and moved to NYC after accepting a job with the legendary Plaza Hotel.  From The Plaza, I joined Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts in Las Vegas as a Catering Manager and then Santa Fe as a Director of Catering and Conference Services.  The pull of Southern California moved my family and I to the Waldorf Astoria, La Quinta Resort which introduced me to the amazing COJ family!

Liz Sklar

Event Director

Liz is a hopeless romantic and has always seen life through rose-colored lenses. From very early on, she had a camera in her hand trying to capture people in their happiest moments. She attended Brooks Institute of Photography and then began her early career as a photojournalist with The Desert Sun Newspaper, as a native of the Palm Springs area.It wasn’t until her own fairytale wedding day that Liz realized she missed her true calling in becoming a wedding planner.Over the past decade, Liz has devoted her time to making couples' dreams come true. Her attention to detail, classic taste, and sophisticated style delivers an astonishing experience for her clients and guests. When she’s not executing your wedding dreams, she can likely be found hiking the beautiful local desert mountains, chasing her two sons Michael and Jacob around, or cheering her husband Bryan on at the Pickle Ball court.

Mandy Dukovan

Vendor Coordinator / Event Planner

I hold a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, so I'm passionate about not only helping a couple make their dream wedding a reality, but seeing them begin their lives together. I was born and raised in Wyoming, so I'm a small town girl at heart, but I fell in love with California when I moved here in 2008 to work for Discovery Land Company. I have worn many different career hats,  but my passion has always been in hospitality. It's where my love for interacting with others intertwines so well with my love for great food.  I was lucky enough to work for a venue that hosted many of COJ's weddings and was always in awe of their attention to every detail. I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to join this amazing team in creating beautiful and fun filled weddings and events.

Lex Crawford

Marketing & Graphics Coordinator / Event Planner

The "COJ baby." From the age of 10 to now, I have been involved with all the incredible work COJ does. The love and encouragement from the COJ team helped me choose to further my education in the arts. I help create personal touches to your big day using my BA in Computer Arts and Design. My passion as an artist is watching the small details come together to create a beautiful masterpiece. I love taking clients' ideas and dreams and turning them into reality through my work. On the days I'm not working, I'm traveling with my soon-to-be wife and two dogs, Ducky and Bootsie.

Frank Shaver-Burgess

Event Director & Social Media Manager

I love helping couples build unforgettable memories through storytelling and showcasing their personalities at their weddings. I live in Orange County, California, with my husband, Connor, our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Charlie, and our Cock-A-Tzu (Cocker Spaniel + Shih Tzu mix) named Cooper. I am originally from Arizona and moved to Southern California in 2010. With a background in hospitality and customer service, I have worked for some well-known companies and brands that have shaped how I view customer service, attention to detail, and the overall guest experience. I hold a bachelors in Organizational Leadership from Arizona State University and a Master's in Leadership Development from Chapman University. I got into the wedding industry in 2021 thanks to a homework assignment (ask me to share that story when we meet) for grad school. That project led me to create an online wedding directory, @LGBTQWeddingsOC, on Instagram in 2021. Today, I enjoy working with people from all walks of life, helping them throw events that they'll remember for years to come!
